Two Proven Herbal Supplements for Stress and Anxiety

The fast-paced nature of modern life is characterized by constant demands and personal challenges. As we try to earn a living or take care of a family, the resulting stress can often feel insurmountable. While many can hide their feelings from family and co-workers, this stress is often characterized by an ongoing sense of anxiety and inability to sleep. Then, as we get tired or more anxious, our ability to cope diminishes.

Most of us don’t realize there is a problem until relationships begin to suffer or performance at work slips. At this point, many turn to either alcohol or prescription drugs as a way to escape from the stress. Alternatives to dealing with this stress and anxiety in a productive way are often difficult to consider in the midst of such crisis. Unfortunately, self-medicating often makes the problem worse and may become addictive.

Fortunately, there are a variety of natural methods for addressing the ongoing challenges of life. The first step essential to reducing stress and anxiety is to take a hard look at what is causing the angst. The issue might be around life at work, or maybe a personal relationship is suffering. Once you’ve identified the root cause, then take a hard look at which obligations are really essential versus those that you may perceive to be important. Perhaps your social schedule is too intense or too much time is spent at the office. Even after you’ve completed a fair life evaluation, it is often tough to implement the changes you know are necessary. This is where herbal supplements for stress and anxiety can play a role.

Natural herbal supplements can help you relax or deal with social anxiety without the harsh and unwanted side effects associated with alcohol or drugs. In general, they can enhance your ability to relax or get the sleep essential to making real change. However, few know where to start or which supplements actually work. Our brains produce a variety of hormones and chemicals in order to regulate essential functions such as sleep and relaxation. This brings us to the role of 5-HTP and Melatonin - two essential herbal supplements for stress and anxiety.

5-HTP

While the processes are complex, 5-HTP or 5-hydroxytryptophan is an amino acid required for the production of serotonin. Studies have shown that low levels of serotonin can lead to depression, insomnia, irritability and anxiety. Therefore, supplementing with 5-HTP can help alleviate these symptoms and is particularly useful as a holistic treatment for stress. If you are debating the effectiveness of herbal supplements vs. prescription drugs, consider that 5HTP works in a manner similar to SSRI’s. (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors) Common prescription SSRI’s and anti anxiety disorder medications include drugs like Zoloft and Prozac. In fact, one study demonstrated that 5-HTP was as effective in treating anxiety and depression as the SSRI Fluvoxamine. As an added bonus, 5HTP has been shown to help reduce the pain associated with fibromyalgia and migraine headaches. Finally, given its ability to help produce serotonin, which make the body feel full and content, 5-HTP is often used as a weight loss supplement. Also, 5-HTP is a precursor, or is involved in the natural production of melatonin.

Melatonin

Melatonin, a hormone produced in the brain, is an important part of the cycle of sleeping and waking up. In this role, Melatonin produces the feeling of sleepiness that sets upon us when night falls. The reason that we normally fall asleep is due to the timing of our circadian rhythms, or biological processes that regulate bodily function. Early in the evening, the pineal gland begins to secrete melatonin with its peak production hitting half way through the night. Then, it begins to taper off towards morning. Taking melatonin as a supplement before bedtime accelerates natural production so that this peak is reached earlier. This helps those with insomnia fall asleep and stay asleep. In several properly documented studies, melatonin was given to test subjects as an alternative to a class of sedatives called benzodiazepines. Common prescription drug brands in this group are Xanax, Tafil, Ativan, and Valium – many of which can become addictive. In several cases, the participants using melatonin were able to stop taking the drugs while still maintaining healthy sleep habits. This makes a powerful case for herbal supplements vs. prescription drugs. These same studies discovered that those with a history of seizures experienced more frequent incidents when taking melatonin. As such, those who have ever had seizures should not take this supplement. Also, melatonin is best used when a full night’s rest can be enjoyed. Those who cannot enjoy a full night’s sleep should not take this supplement because it is so effective and will cause drowsiness.

Remember that melatonin and 5-HTP should be used in conjunction with a healthy diet, exercise and with the knowledge of your doctor. In addition, you should not mix supplements with each other or prescription drugs. Even thought the supplements we've discussed are natural alternatives to medication for anxiety disorders, they are very effective and should be taken in the proper dosages.

Everyone wants to be able to balance life’s obligations. This is entirely possible while also taking care of personal well-being and happiness. Leading a productive existence and a low-stress life are actually complimentary and can be a reality for anyone. If you can first identify the aspects of life that are causing you emotional discomfort, then you can begin to make meaningful changes. Getting a full night of sleep or reducing the amount of stress you feel in a given situation may be the first step you take. It is very possible that one of these herbal supplements for stress and anxiety will help. Don’t delay another day - you owe it to yourself to live the best life you can.

Indian Ginseng for Stress Relief - Ashwagandha

Ashwagandha, known as the Ginseng of India, is an exotic herb. Also known as Winter Cherry, it comes from the root of a tall branching shrub with yellow-green flowers, cultivated in India and North America. The shrub is called Withania Somnifera. Ashwagandha calms and strengthens the nervous system, promotes sleep, helps arthritis, relieves weakness and clears the mind. It is considered a promoter of good health and well being for the entire body, similar to other "ginsengs". However, unlike regular Ginseng, it has a sedative effect on the Central Nervous System. Regular Ginseng has a stimulant effect. Ashwagandha contains natural chemicals and flavonoids which calm the central nervous system and balance the systems in the body. It has been shown to act as an anti-inflammatory as well, comparable to hydrocortisone. Ashwagandha contains the amino acids alanine, glycine, proline, tyrosine and valine which enhance brain function.

Ashwagandha has been used for thousands of years in India as a folk medicine by Ayurvedic practitioners. It has undergone valid scientific testing and in a double-blind study in India, healthy males taking this Indian ginseng showed slowed signs of aging, less grey hair, lower serum cholesterol, and increased sexual performance. Indian scientists have also proven that Ashwagandha disrupts the ability of cancer cells to reproduce. Both skin and stomach cancer were slowed with its use. A test on rats in Germany showed that acetylcholine metabolism was affected in the brain by Ashwagandha. Acetylcholine is the most abundant neurotransmitter in the brain and is essential for good memory and cognitive abilities. A recent Japanese study showed that the compounds in Indian ginseng reduced the growth of colon, breast and lung cancer. In India, Ashwagandha is used to treat geriatric patients, amnesia and as an antioxidant treatment, since its use has shown to increase three antioxidants: superoxide dismutase, catalase, and glutathione peroxidase. Other studies showed that Ashwagandha has antimicrobial and antibacterial properties against such bacteria as Salmonella.

Ashwagandha may be taken daily. So far no dangerous side affects have been reported with use in moderate dosages, which is 2-6 grams daily. It should not be taken by pregnant women, with sedatives or illegal drugs. It comes in various forms such as powder, liquid, tablet and dried root. Many health food stores carry it.

Differences And Similarities Of Three ED Drugs

Ready to combat ED (erectile dysfunction) but confused about which type of PDE-5 inhibitor to take? You're not the only one. Of the 3 FDA approved PDE-5 inhibitors, Viagra (sildenafil citrate) is definitely the most popular, but popularity alone shouldn't be a determining factor. The more recently approved Cialis (tadalafil) and Levitra (vardenafil hydrochloride) are also highly effective and very safe alternatives, although they may not be as popular yet. The problem for most people is actually deciding on the best alternative for them.

For starters, all three drugs are PDE-5 inhibitors so they help relax compromised or hardened penile arteries thus allowing more blood to flow into the penis and subsequently cause an erection. All three drugs also help keep high levels of cGMP within the penis. What's cGMP? It means cyclic guanosine monophosphate and it is an incredible substance which is naturally produced by the penile tissue in response to sexual stimulation and which aids vascular muscle relaxation. When high levels of cGMP are present, the penile arteries become relaxed and a natural and stiff erection will occur.

Unfortunately, in most men suffering from E.D., the PDE-5 enzyme neutralizes any available cGMP and without cGMP an erection will become flaccid or will not occur at all. That's where PDE-5 inhibitors such as Viagra, Cialis and Levitra come in. These drugs "inhibit" or block the unwanted PDE-5 and hence the very much wanted cGMP is allowed to remain within the penis after sexual stimulation occurs, thus aiding the erection process and keeping the penis erect. The question is, "Since all of these drugs have the same effect, why should I choose one over another?"

Let's compare the three PDE-5 inhibitors side by side to determine their differences:

Manufacturers:

Viagra: Pfizer

Cialis: Eli Lilly and ICOS

Levitra: GlaxoSmithKline and Bayer

Generic Name:

Viagra: Sildenafil Citrate

Cialis: tadalafil

Levitra: vardenafil hydrochloride

Dosages: Available and Recommended:

Viagra: 25 mg, 50 mg, and 100 mg tablets. Most patients begin using the 50 mg pill and either increase or decrease the dosage based on drug tolerance and / or effectiveness. Most healthcare practitioners recommend taking Viagra 1 hour prior to sexual activity but studies have shown that Viagra can actually be taken anywhere from 30 minutes to 4 hours before having sex.

Cialis: 5 mg, 10 mg, and 20 mg tablets. It is recommended that you start out using 10 mg tablets and either increase or decrease the dosage depending on the results achieved. Traditionally, Cialis tablets can be taken anywhere from 30 minutes to 12 hours prior to sexual activity. Cialis soft tabs (which need not go through the digestion process) may be taken around 15 minutes prior to sexual activity.

Levitra: 2.5-mg, 5-mg, 10-mg, and 20-mg. Most people start out on the 10 mg pill and either work their way up or down depending on the results achieved. Levitra should be taken anywhere from 25 minutes to 1 hour prior to sexual activity, though some experts claim sex can be initiated in as early as 15 minutes.

How long does the effect last?

Viagra: approximately 4 hours

Cialis: approximately 17 to 36 hours (This is why they call Cialis the weekend pill.)

Levitra: approximately 5 hours

Year approved by the FDA:

Viagra: March 27, 1998

Cialis: November 1, 2003

Levitra: August 20, 2003

Cost of Pill

The cost for each of the 3 drugs is similar though Cialis tends to be a bit cheaper.

Success Rate

All three drugs work for approximately 70 percent of all men. Unfortunately, PDE-5 inhibitors won't work for everyone. Certain men may need to use alternative treatments such as vacuum pump devices or even penile implants.

Side Effects

All three drugs share most of the same side effects. Some men may experience headaches, flushing, back pain, runny noses, stomach aches, or even changes in vision (example: some Viagra studies have revealed that on rare occasions a man may begin seeing a bluish tinge but that should go away after the drug has been eliminated from the body). These are all common side effects and should not be reason to worry excessively.

None of the three PDE-5 inhibitors should be taken in combination with low blood pressure medication as this can potentially cause a person to have a heart attack. People with high blood pressure should also take PDE-5 inhibitors only after consulting with their doctor. In fact you should never self-prescribe yourself with any of the 3 PDE-5 inhibitors or any other prescription drug for that matter. Even if you are purchasing your PDE-5 inhibitors online you must still open up and tell the pharmacist everything he/she needs to know in order to properly formulate the correct treatment for you.

What the drug looks like:

Viagra: Small blue tablet with the word Pfizer engraved in the middle.

Cialis: Yellow tablet that is almond shaped and film coated.

Levitra: Orange tablet with a flame logo.

Notable Differences

Basically the only major difference between the three drugs is that Levitra begins working the fastest and will work regardless of what kind of food you have previously eaten. Viagra has the proven track record and has been trusted by over 30 million men and Cialis is the longest lasting. In the end though, the real choice is up to you.

Pheromones For Women - How To Attract Men

While men are considered more likely to be interested in the use of pheromone products, this trend has been somewhat turned on it's head recently with many more women joining the ranks.

There's a stronger presence of pheromones for women and if you consider human behavior for a moment, this just makes sense.

The Mating Game

In the process of looking for a mate, men are more aggressive and you could be forgiven that the art of pursuit revolves mainly aroung men looking for a female partner. Hence the marketing of pheromone products has been directed at the male market.

On the other hand, women are considered a little more subtle in their quest for relationships with the opposite sex but in a sense, are they less aggressive? Where am I going with this?

To cut a long explanation short, just because guys are noticed more when they are on the prowl for female company it doesn't necessarily mean their opposite numbers aren't playing the same game.

So what's available for the ladies? Are there pheromones for women on the market? Sure there are. It just seems that they don't get the prominence in the advertising stakes as the male product.

Pheromones For Women

Copulin based pheromones for women are said to be the answer to a girls quest to "nab her man." They are secreted by women naturally however, the copulins found in pheromone products are synthetic.

Tests have indicated a man's testosterone levels can increase significantly if they get a sniff of copulins. In fact, levels can rise anywhere from 100-150% and more amazing, the reaction is almost instant.

Women are considered a much more attractive proposition to a man if men get their dose of copulins through the nostrils. However, the question still needs to be asked...does a man really need to be tempted by a stimulant to be attracted to the opposite sex?

While pheromones for women are available in both fragrance and concentrate form, the use of them mirrors the same rules as it does for the men. Use lightly and remember, more is not better.

Breast Augmentation - Is Bigger Really Better?

So, you're thinking about breast augmentation? There are certainly a lot of things to consider before you take the plunge. Ultimately, your final breast size will be determined by the limitations of your body, but you will want to do some research into what makes you most comfortable.

Some women long for large, over the top, breasts. Others could care less what their breast size is. Most women fall somewhere in the middle. If you're on the smaller size and are thinking about going up a cup size or two, you're not alone. Studies show that millions of American women wish they were just a little bit larger in the chest.

Before you commit to an implant size, try some larger breasts on for size. By this, we mean purchase a couple of bras with cup sizes a size or two larger and stuff them. Wear each one for a few days so that you can get a feel for what your new breasts will look like. This is an important step in determining how large you should go. For most women, going up just one cup size does the trick. For others, they really like the idea of those double-D's.

A board certified plastic surgeon is a great resource for helping you select the best implant size for you. Your plastic surgeon is most concerned with making you happy while making sure that your chosen implants are the most proportionate for your body size. Bring those bras that you bought for your research along with you to your visit with your plastic surgeon and you'll be able to place an actual implant into the bra to give you a pretty realistic idea of how your new breasts will look and feel.

Your plastic surgeon will help you determine the size that is best for you based on your body size, the placement of your natural breasts, the thickness of the skin on your chest, and the fat content of your upper body. He or she is also the best resource for information on whether saline or silicone implants best suit your needs and lifestyle.

Caffeine Caused Anxiety Attacks

Since the dawning of the "Information Age" in the early 1980's the pace of change has accelerated in our society. To keep pace with the explosion of new information and this rapid rate of change, many people have adopted a new coping strategy of increasing their consumption of caffeine. Caffeine is a drug. It is a stimulant which increases many of same physiological responses as the survival response known as the "Flight-Fight" response. It is this reaction by the body to the stimulation from caffeine that can trigger an anxiety-type physical reaction. Many people are unsuspecting and naпve regarding the full extent of this response to which often includes a common, and even, celebrated "rush" of energy. Knowing about this response can keep you from being a victim to caffeine related anxiety attacks.

As a stimulant, the effect of caffeine can be different from one person to the next. The amount of caffeine consumed, and then the amount actually absorbed by the body, can contribute to the range of reactions. It is not uncommon for caffeine to cause an increase in brain wave activity that can arouse a tired mind. This is the most desired response for many sleep deprived people. This can backfire on many people who may have a daylong response to their morning coffee (or other caffeine source) because many people can not sleep well at bedtime as a response to this early caffeine consumption. This "vicious cycle" will then cause poor quality sleep/rest which requires more caffeine to get "up" for the next day's activities.

The stimulation caused by caffeine can also increase heart rate and for some people increase their blood pressure as it simulates the release of excitatory hormones like adrenaline (epinephrine.) This rapid heart rate, when severe, can scare people, triggering the hormonal release which can cause a greater anxiety reaction. The frightening response to the physical associations of an anxiety attack can cause fear and can even drive people to the emergency rooms with the concern that the patient believes that they going to die from a heart attack. We have enough anxiety in our society without pushing ourselves over the edge with the stimulation of caffeine.

Caffeine can cause an increase in skeletal muscle tension as it triggers the classic flight response. This muscle tension can be distracting (loss of focus), cause fatigue, and in many cases increase the likelihood of increased muscle spasms and so, muscle contraction pain. In this way, caffeine can contribute to muscle tension headaches from the tightness of muscles in the jaw, neck, and shoulders. For people suffering from chronic muscular tension pain, this can contribute to their tension and pain. It will often cause an increased anxiety driven response to their pain which can intensify their chronic pain complaints. This is especially true for lower back pain and neck/shoulder pain, as well as the peripheral pains in the arms and legs that can be associated with back pain.

For those of you who use caffeine regularly, you should also know that there are plenty of cases of physical and psychological addiction to this drug. Many people feel withdrawal symptoms that are not comfortable when they try to discontinue their caffeine habit. If you want to discontinue, the best way to do this would be gradually over time. Substituting Ѕ de-caf into your morning coffee and minimizing other caffeine laden products will be helpful. Be patient and drink extra water!

In its defense, caffeine can be helpful for some types of headaches such as migraine headaches which can be reduced by caffeine or associated cafergot. (Cafergot is a brand name of the combination of ergotamine and caffeine.) With its stimulating effects on the digestive system, caffeine may also work as a laxative to minimize problems with constipation. Historically, European coffee "salons" were places where intellectuals could meet and have lively discussions while drinking brewed coffee which was more healthful than the untreated available water which was often contaminated with deadly diseases of the Middle Ages. The other alternative beverage for most Middle Age Europeans was to drink beer or alcoholic drinks which did not encourage good discussion, thinking, or productivity.

Since the 1980's, our society has seen an explosion of coffee houses and Expresso stands. You can not get through any American city with being confronted by easily accessible purveyors of liquid coffee refreshments. Both young and old are caught in this "glamorous" habit with expanding zeal. A gift of choice is the insidious gift certificate for the expensive coffee houses. This has gotten to be big business.

Besides coffee or expresso drinks, caffeine is found in many products. Black teas, green tea, soft drinks, chocolate candy, and as an additive in many other products are but a few of these additional sources for caffeine. There are even a few products with commercial names like: Jolt, Red Bull, and RockStar that cater to the young caffeine crazed generation that seem to require higher concentrations of caffeine. I do not want to deprive people from indulging in these products, but people must be aware of what the effects of these products can do to their body's and to people who interact with caffeine saturated folks. Many cases of "road rage" may be traced to the negative effects of over-caffeinated, stressed drivers.

Let's have some common sense. Moderation is a great rule to follow, especially if you are one the people who are most sensitive to the effects of caffeine. Coffee businesses are not bad or the enemy, we just need to learn how use them in most appropriate ways.

Treatment Options in Pneumonia

Most of the cases of pneumonia are triggered by bacterial factors and are usually treated with 5-10 days of ant biotherapy, even longer in case of an impaired immune system. The doctor will choose the most appropriate antibiotic for your condition after taking notice of your age, symptoms, their severity and the eventual need for hospitalization. Most physicians recommend a broad-spectrum antibiotic with bactericide effects on a large number of bacteria; still, most of the antibiotics available have a good curing effect on pneumonia.

In less severe cases with no need for hospitalization, the doctor will prescribe you one of the next possible treatments:

1. Macrolides such as Biaxin, Biaxin XL, Ery-tab or Zithromax.

2. Tetracyclines like Doxycycline

3. Fluoroquinolones such as Levaquin or Avelox.

In case of hospital care, the mentioned antibiotics may also be administered but in addition, other several ones are available for more severe cases of pneumonia:

1. Cephalosporines like Ceclor, Duricef or Ceftin.

2. Penicillin like Augumentin, Amoxil, Omnipen, Biomox or Timentin

3. Vancomycin

Mild to moderate pneumonia cases can also be cured with a new-generation antibiotic class called Ketolides.

In healthy young subjects, the effects of the proper ant biotherapy must usually be seen in about 2-3 days. If by this time the symptoms show no real amelioration, you might need bacterial culture and testing for sensitivity to antibiotics. This will allow the physician to determine which organism is responsible for your pneumonia type and whether you have developed resistance to that particular antibiotic.

Hospitalization is only requited in over 65 years old patients, associated conditions like diabetes, heart or kidney failure, severe illness with hypoxia, severe chest pain, no real improvements after therapy or the impossibility to eat or keep food when in this case intravenous feeding is required.

Pneumonia can also be caused by viruses similar to the Influenza causing the flu or the varicella-zoster virus causing chicken-pox. For viral types of pneumonia there is currently no actual treatment except home stay, care and treatment for the symptoms. Pneumonia cases caused by Varicella virus can be cured by using the medication called Acyclovir.

If your case is not severe enough to require hospitalization, you will not need to identify the responsible bacteria. If you have been hospitalized, additional testing will be done to find the exact cause of pneumonia. If you immediately start the ant biotherapy you will see a faster improvement and you will rapidly feel better.

Read This Report if You Are Considering Medication to Treat Your ...

Cardizem is a medication used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure), angina (chest pain), and certain heart rhythm disorders. Cardizem is a calcium channel blocker. It works by relaxing the muscles of your heart and blood vessels allowing blood to pass more freely thereby reducing blood pressure.

It should be taken whole, never crushed or chewed, and should be taken at the same time every day with a full glass of water. You should not stop taking Cardizem suddenly as it may make your condition worse. Even if you feel well do not stop taking it unless directed to do so by your doctor.

If you are pregnant do not take Cardizem as it can cause harm to your unborn child. This is excreted in breast milk, therefore nursing mothers are encouraged to not use Cardizem.

As with any prescription medications, side effects may occur. It can effect your thinking and reactions, therefore do not drive or do anything that requires you to be alert until you see how you react to Cardizem. Make sure to tell your doctor of any other medications you are taking including non-prescription medications and herbal supplements. if you are allergic to any drugs be sure to let your doctor know. It is very important that your doctor know of any medical conditions that you have including kidney disease, liver disease, or congestive heart failure as it may not be the best choice for you.

While on Cardizem treatment your blood pressure will need to be monitored on a regular basis. Your doctor may adjust your dosage of it depending on these results. Your doctor may also recommend kidney and liver function testing while on or before prescribing Cardizem. This may be the right choice for treating your hypertension but remember only you and your doctor can determine if Cardizem is right for you.

What Else Could My High Blood Pressure Medicine Treat?

What is the purpose of Lopressor pills?

Lopressor pills are prescribed for sometimes surprising conditions. Here are some.

1. To lower high blood pressure

Lopressor is most commonly used to treat high blood pressure. It can be taken on its own, or with other high blood pressure medicines. What Lopressor does is slow down the speed and strength with which the heart beats. Together, these two actions have the effect of reducing the amount of blood the heart pumps out, thus bringing down blood pressure.

And why bother with treating high blood pressure? Especially when it doesn't seem to be causing you any bother now? Because, untreated, it can develop into strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems.

2. To control angina (chest pain)

Lopressor offers doctors a way to treat angina over a long period of time. When Lopressor slows down the heart and lessens the strength of its contractions, the heart muscles don't work as hard and therefore need less oxygen. Angina comes about when the heart muscle is supplied with too little oxygen. So, in reducing the heart 's need for oxygen, Lopressor makes it harder for angina to happen.

Why would you want angina to go away? Because having angina means you are more likely to develop serious heart damage or have a heart attack.

3. To prevent further heart attacks

Again because it makes the heart work less and need less oxygen, Lopressor offers doctors a way to make heart attacks less likely to recur.

Heart attacks can have a devastating effect on our health and quality of life. They can even be deadly. Which is why it's important to ensure they don't happen again.

4. Irregular heartbeat

In health, the heart beats in an orderly, harmonious rhythm. When this rhythm is disrupted, the heart beats irregularly. Often faster. Also, the force with which the heart beats becomes random - sometimes stronger, sometimes weaker. End result, the heart simply can't do its job of pumping blood through the body, properly. By blocking the nerves that speed up heart rate, Lopressor slows the heart down. That's why it's used to treat irregular (rapid) heartbeat.

Although having irregular heartbeats is, itself, not life-threatening, it is often quite alarming for the person experiencing them. It is worthwhile keeping an eye on it as it it can sometimes result in fainting, chest pain or congestive heart failure. But the big risk is having a stroke.

5. To prevent migraines.

Interestingly, Lopressor is often used to prevent migraines! No one is clear how, exactly, lopressor does this. It was purely by chance that this ability was noticed.

As we know, Lopressor works because it stands in the way of a particular group of nerves. Lots of these nerves lead to the heart , but they also go to the blood vessels and the brain. Perhaps Lopressor affects migraines simply because of that - location.

6. To relieve temporary anxiety.

7. To treat aggressive behaviour. This is rare.

Cure Gynecomastia and Chest Fat

Chest fat or Gynecomastia is a condition many males suffer from. Whether skinny or fat this can be a very frustrating thing to deal with. The great news is there are options available to cure gynecomastia and chest fat.

1. Surgery. "Gyno" can be surgically removed, with varying results. It is usually an expensive procedure, but costs do vary. When choosing the surgical route, one wants an excellent surgeon who has performed the procedure cure for gynecomastia many times before, and is able to remove most if not all of it.

2. Another cure for gynecomastia, with varying results is a drug called Nolvadex. Usually this is prescription, and the route to get it through a doctor as a cure for gynecomastia can vary, as the medical establishment didn't popularize the effects of Nolvadex as a cure for gynecomastia, as much as the athletic community has. Many athletes who have dabbled in steroids have become victim to "gyno" as that is one of the side effects of steroids. To counter this side effect from happening, they realized taking Nolvadex works very well. Further investigation from athletes uncovered that even after gyno has occured they could still take Nolvadex and in some cases it would serve as a cure for gynecomastia eliminating it partially or whole.

3. The third cure for gynecomastia and the one that should be followed first before getting into the other two options as a cure for gynecomastia is specific gyno related exercises, routines, and techniques that have helped many individuals who would have ended up opting for surgery or taking drugs. Many gyno cases involve extra chest fat accumulation. A weight loss program can also be put into place, but the specific exercises that nail the gyno are mainly put into place, and hence a cure for gynecomastia is achieved. There are specific routines, techniques and online programs which have helped individuals discover an effective cure for gynecomastia.

Scabies - Causes, Symptoms and Treatment Methods

Scabies is an infestation of the skin with the microscopic mite Sarcoptes scabei. The name Sarcoptes scabiei is derived from the Greek words sarx (the flesh) and koptein (to smite or cut) and the Latin word scabere. It is characterized by superficial burrows, intense pruritus (itching) and secondary infection. Scabies is spread by personal contact, e.g., by shaking hands or sleeping together or by close contact with infected articles such as clothing, bedding or towels. The infection spreads more easily in crowded conditions and in situations where there is a lot of close contact - like child-care centers or nursing homes. The most prominent symptom of scabies is intense itching particularly at night. The scabies mite is an obligate parasite and completes its entire life cycle on humans. Other variants of the scabies mite can cause infestation in other mammals such as dogs, cats, pigs, ferrets, and horses, and these variants can infest human skin as well. Scabies is a worldwide public health problem, affecting persons of all ages, races, and socioeconomic groups.

Scabies mites are very fastidious. Scabies rash appears as tiny red intensely itchy bumps on the limbs and trunk. Scabies can be spread by the insect itself or by the egg. Prompt action is required to rid a person of the insects and eggs. The areas of the body most commonly affected by scabies are the hands and feet (especially the webs of skin between the fingers and toes), the inner part of the wrists, and the folds under the arms. However, other forms of physical contact, such as mothers hugging their children, is sufficient to spread the mites. In a classic scabies infection, anywhere from 5-15 mites live on the host. Little evidence of infection exists during the first month, but after 4 weeks and with subsequent infections, a delayed-type IV hypersensitivity reaction to the mites, eggs, and scybala occurs. Because of the contagious nature of scabies, doctors often recommend treatment for entire families or contact groups to eliminate the mite.

Causes of Scabies

The common causes and risk factor's of Scabies include the following:

A mite (Sarcoptes scabiei) which burrows under the skin.

An arthropod of the order Acarina.

Skin-to-skin contact.

Physical contact, such as mothers hugging their children.

Contact with someone else who is infected with it.

Sharing clothing or bedding with an infected person can spread the mites.

Symptoms of Scabies

Some sign and symptoms related to Scabies are as follows:

Intense itching, especially at night and over most of the body.

Pus-filled bumps.

Impetigo, a bacterial skin infection.

Scabies burrows.

Sores on the body caused by scratching.

Generalised rash.

Treatment of Scabies

Here is list of the methods for treating Scabies:

Several topical treatments exist for scabies, the most common of which are Kwell lotion (lindane) and Elimite (permethrin).

Topical (surface) medications are often effective and must be applied thoroughly to all skin from the face down, especially to areas known to be primarily affected (skin folds, etc.).

If scabies is suspected, the doctor may scrape a small part of the affected skin and examine the scrapings under a microscope for signs of scabies mites.

Two medications commonly prescribed are permethrin (Elimite, Acticin) and crotamiton (Eurax).

Benzyl benzoate emulsion.

The doctor may prescribe antibiotics if your child develops a bacterial skin infection such as impetigo in addition to the scabies infection.

Doctors sometimes prescribe oral medications for people with altered immune systems or for people who don't respond to the prescription lotions and creams.

Vytorin Side Effects - Are They Really Rare?

If you believe Merck Pharmaceuticals' very clever TV commercial, Vytorin side effects "are rare and minimal." I think not.

Here is an excerpt from an email I received this week from Linda: "I took Vytorin 10/20 for 4 nights along with 100 mg of COQ 10. I have been off the medication for 1 week now and I am still suffering from muscle pain, burning and numbness.

I have been dizzy and having visual problems. I also have trouble with anxiety and clear thought process. I am praying so very hard that these side effects will clear up. Some have gotten better but today the muscle weakness was terrible. Is it possible for the side effects to come and go?"

Another sufferer of Vytorin Side Effects reported this:

"I had been on Vytorin less than a week when I began having muscle pains. Sometimes it felt like someone were sticking a needle or a knife in my legs. The pain started with my calves and then I noticed I started getting the pain in my thighs. Sometimes the pain was so great I would clutch my leg.

My doctor had me reduce my pill taking from one per day to one every other day, but that did not stop the side effects. I told my doctor I was switching to Policosanol with CQ10 enzyme. (I took some Policosanol for several days after stopping the Vytorin but it wasn’t until I took the Policosanol including the CQ10 enzyme that the pain in my legs started going away.)"

Former NASA Scientist Astronaut Duane "Doc" Graveline has this to say about Vytorin side effects:

"Five years ago when I started my research on Zocor and the other stronger statins, Vytorin had yet to be developed. Now Merck’s combination of Zocor (simvastatin) and Zetia (ezetimibe) is fighting for market share and the reports of Vytorin side effects are flooding in. If you are on Vytorin or planning to start Vytorin, you must read my book. You must know Vytorin's true legacy.

The purported special benefit of Vytorin is better LDL cholesterol reduction by interfering not only with Zocor's inhibition of cholesterol biosynthesis but by the added reduction of intestinal absorption of cholesterol through Zetia’s effect on the small bowel.

In reality, then, Vytorin is just another strong statin drug with the same side effect profile of all the other statin drugs in current use."

Contrary to what your well meaning physician may tell you, there is a better way to lower LDL cholesterol and improve HDL cholesterol... while also lowering other risks of heart attack and stroke.

You don't have to take the risk of suffering Vytorin side effects. Nearly 16 years ago a highly skilled heart surgeon, sawed open my chest and stitched in bypasses to six of my favorite heart arteries.

I'm always on the lookout for the latest information and supplements you (and I) need to know about to keep our hearts as strong and vital as our Creator designed them to be.

One of my all time favorite heart supplements is Vital Life Nutritionals' Cholest-Check™. This nutritional powerhouse doesn't just lower cholesterol...it improves it, while also lowering other risks of heart attack and stroke!

Cholest-Check™ cholesterol check increases the HDL cholesterol. HDL is known as the "good cholesterol" for some very good reasons.

HDL cholesterol is the "Superman" cholesterol component. It acts like a miniature hydraulic vacuum cleaner, streaming through your arteries, scooping up the "bad" LDL cholesterol, and carrying it back to your liver where it can be “dealt with”.

Prednisone and Massage

One of the most often presented conditions that massage therapists encounter is chronic pain, making pain management and relief a chief goal of a massage session. Sometimes though, regular massage therapy may not be enough to relieve this kind of pain, and clients may rely on traditional Western medicine for help. The most common doctor-prescribed medications for chronic pain relief are steroids, particularly Prednisone, which is primarily used as an anti-inflammatory. Since this medication is so common, it is likely that many of your clients are taking it for pain relief. This makes it absolutely necessary for massage therapists to know and understand any and all possible contraindications with this drug.

Taking Prednisone for chronic pain may offer tremendous relief to your clients, but it is not without its share of side effects. Some of the most common side effects of this steroid include headaches, dizziness, fatigue and muscle weakness. These and other side effects are things that every massage therapist should be aware of so that they can adjust their massage accordingly, and provide the safest and most beneficial therapeutic treatment possible. Another important aspect of Prednisone to be aware of is its ability to inhibit calcium absorption, thus contributing to weak and fragile bones.

Due to the many possible side effects of this drug and, in order to ensure the client’s safety, bodyworkers treating clients taking Prednisone should opt for light, gentle massage strokes in favor of deep muscle work. It is important for you and your client to stay in close contact with the client’s physician so that he or she can monitor any developing conditions that may result from this medication.
